Ambassador of the I.R.Iran attended the welcome ceremony for incoming students and the farewell ceremony for graduating students of the Persian Language Department at the Faculty of Humanities and Literature University of Dhaka
On August 19, 2026, His Excellency Dr. Rahimi Jahanabadi the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran attended the welcome ceremony for incoming students and the farewell ceremony for graduating students of the Persian Language Department at the Faculty of Humanities and Literature, University of Dhaka, as an esteemed guest of honor, following an official invitation from the faculty. Delivering an address at the event, Dr. Rahimi Jahanabadi underscored the pivotal role of the Persian language in reinforcing the shared cultural bonds between Iran and Bangladesh. Rejecting the notion that contemporary global principles and values are exclusively Western imports, he emphasized the indigenous and Persian roots of fundamental human rights concepts—such as Freedom, Tolerance, and Justice—within ancient Persian Civilization long millenniums and centuries before they were brought up by the West . He cited the Cyrus Cylinder and the literary masterpieces of iconic poets such as Ferdowsi, Saadi, and Hafez as robust and irrefutable documentation supporting this perspective.

Bilateral Meeting: Following the ceremony, the Iranian Ambassador held bilateral talks with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Mr. Obaidul Islam, in the presence of several university faculty members. Both sides emphasized the exchange of faculty members and students as a vital mechanism for strengthening shared cultural ties. The Vice-Chancellor expressed the university's full readiness to provide necessary facilities to host additional visiting professors from Iran for Persian language and literature instruction.
Cultural Heritage Visit: On the sidelines of the event, the Ambassador visited the University of Dhaka's manuscript library, which houses 30,000 ancient manuscripts in Bengali, Sanskrit, Arabic, and Persian. He expressed the preparedness of Iranian manuscript conservation specialists to collaborate and share expertise in preserving and restoring these historical texts, as well as in creating a digital archive of this ancient treasure trove.
