On October 7, 2026, His Excellency Dr. Rahimi Jahanabadi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Bangladesh, attended the official diplomatic reception commemorating the National Day of the Republic of Maldives in Dhaka, following a formal invitation by his Maldivian counterpart.

The event, which convened members of the diplomatic corps, the Minister of Tourism, and prominent figures from the Bangladeshi business community, served as a platform to highlight the Republic of Maldives' potential and strategic capabilities in the fisheries sector, particularly regarding tuna harvesting and exports.
